Requirements
Health and Fitness
You should have a healthy constitution and good endurance, as the trip takes place at altitudes between 2500m and 4900m. At the beginning of the journey, you will have opportunities to acclimatize to the altitude.
Trekking Conditions
During the trek, you will be accompanied by a local kitchen crew, a guide, and pack animals, so you do not need to worry about logistics. Daily stages range from 4 to 7 hours with ample breaks and lunch.
Physical Requirements
You should be able to comfortably handle an elevation gain of 1000 meters. Travel times between stages range from 2 to 6 hours.
Health Precautions
A sports medical check-up before the trip is strongly recommended. Slow and steady walking is important, especially at the beginning of the tour, to acclimate to the changing climate and new sleeping and eating habits. Drink 2-3 liters of water daily, and bring a warm down sleeping bag and jacket. There is a risk of altitude sickness, which may require an immediate descent.
