Christian was born in Fulda and has lived in his adopted home of Füssen in the Allgäu for 20 years. As the founder and owner of the specialist tour operator berghorizonte, he has carried out many pioneering trips over the last 30 years. He was able to visit Nepal for the first time in 1993 as a 17-year-old, and since then he has traveled to Nepal every year! In addition to traveling, climbing and photography are also his great passions. As a tour guide, mountain and expedition mountaineer, he has now been able to get to know all continents and gain experience, especially in the Himalayan regions. All of these impressions and experiences are passed on directly to the guests. After many trips to Bhutan over the last 20 years, he has an extensive personal repertoire of trekking trips, travel routes and recommendations for accommodation. Talk to him - he will be happy to give you the best and most valuable tips and recommendations for Bhutan.
The common goal is to make trips personal and close. This way, everything is handled directly from a single source - without middlemen, travel agencies or various portals.
Our office manager is responsible for the smooth organisation of our guests before, during and after the trip. She studied in America, knows all our destinations personally and especially loves the small Himalayan paradise Bhutan! She likes to think about Bhutan:
‘Especially the people and deep memorable culture of Bhutan is so lasting that I always get goosebumps when I think of Bhutan’
It literally takes care of the ‘perfect connection’ to get to Bhutan. Flights, travel and connecting programmes are reliably offered and carried out. Bhutan can also be combined with other countries, whether bathing in Thailand, a round trip in Myanmar or a stopover in Dubai, Singapore or India - everything is possible!
‘The more complicated the better - there's no such thing as impossible ’
Only with local travel experts: Our local agencies and partners are selected by berghorizonte according to strict quality criteria. They are certified, local and very experienced partners who we all know personally or get to know. With whom I plan my own trips.
Our berghorizonte Bhutan team provides travel services that promote the principle of ‘Appreciative, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism’. In a world struggling to conceptualise and implement eco-friendly tourism, Bhutan has established itself as a unique island in the Himalayan region where society, culture, economy, politics and the environment enjoy a truly harmonious relationship.
The team is guided by the country's premise that a nation's progress is measured not by Gross Domestic Product but by Gross National Happiness.
We offer every guest coming to Bhutan a special and customised experience in the hands of a well-trained and highly motivated team of experienced staff from across the country.
Mr Yeshey Norbu has been in the tourism industry since the early nineties. He has been instrumental in the development and growth of tourism in Bhutan since the Royal Government of Bhutan introduced the privatisation of the tourism sector with its ‘High Value, Low Impact’ policy. He led the privatisation process and established the Tourism Authority of Bhutan, the regulatory body of the Royal Government, where he served as Managing Director.
Subsequently, Yeshey Norbu joined Bhutan Tourism Corporation Ltd (BTCL) as Managing Director where he developed the company into a leading Destination Management Company (DMC). He initiated various projects to improve the tourism infrastructure and launched the first luxury Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) project in Bhutan, specifically targeting premium clients to support Bhutan's tourism policy. After thirteen successful years at the helm of BTCL, Yeshey Norbu started his own business and works as our team head for berghorizonte Suburb in Bhutan.
